Overview

A project completed for Stommel Haus located in the Devon country side, boasting beautiful open views. With this project the clients landscaping had already commenced before we mobilised to site, meaning caution had to be taken not to undo these works. Our works are precise and our site kept to a high level of organisation at all times which help with this.

The project was located in a quaint cul de sac with a gravel track leading to the property. The plot over looked a train line which often has beautiful steam trains running by.

Challenge

The highly shrinkable clay soil required us to pile the slab. In addition Radon gas was present so we had to install a gas membrane inside the slab to remit any danger of the gas seeping out of the ground. The slab for the outbuilding required 1.0 m high concrete walls. And in addition there was a main sewer was running across the site.

The Eclipse Solution

Eclipse carried out the below ground design for the entire civil package including drainage, utility and foundation design. The project was managed by our project management team from initial site setup to completion of the groundworks allowing Stommel house to assemble their house as scheduled from the outset.
