Located within the Surrey Hills, an area of outstanding beauty, this Huf House sits on a hill side overlooking vast miles of countryside. Our extended package for this project included landscape design and implementation, we worked closely with the clients to achieve their perfect scheme.

Challenge

The site access was restricted due to the old narrow single-track roads carved through the woodlands. The project encountered other obstacles due to the gradient of the site and ground conditions. The high sand content in the clay meant that if water is added, that the ground can become unstable. Temporary sheet piles had to be installed to ensure stability whilst excavating for the new precast walls.

The Eclipse Solution

The use of retaining walls on two levels was necessary to establish the even construction of the slab foundation and gradual levels down to the lower garden terrace areas. The foundation was required to be constructed to passive house standards meaning insulation was installed below and around the perimeter of the slab. Existing outbuildings had to be integrated into the new utilities and the existing treatment plant.
