Farnham - Baufritz House

Overview

One of our biggest projects to date, set in the depths of Farnham this extensive site required meticulous planning and coordinating. The project involved demolition and dismantling of an existing oak barn, to be stored and reassembled, groundworks, concrete foundations and project management.

Challenge

The site levels had to be changed dramatically and over 100 precast concrete retaining walls were installed. The ground conditions were tough to work with but with persistence we overcame these challenges.

The Eclipse Solution

The complex project was a full success for our client – who had contracted a project with us before. This was only possible by precise and detailed work preparation in our office and thorough execution on site. The project started in August and we had to carry out the works through autumn, winter and spring, shifting in excess of 8000 qbm of soil and reshaping the entire site. The impermeable clay mixed with the amount of groundwater meant that we had to deploy a tanking to the low level walls in the of the stepped slab as well as waterproof concrete. The slab is fully insulated. In order to retain the levels required by the architects design we deployed a mix of sheet piling as well as pre cast retaining walls. The work preparation for the pool was carried out as required by the pool contractor, integrating their attendances in our work program. For the duration of the work Eclipse was the principal contractor.
