• Woldingham, Surrey - Baufritz Haus

Overview

We knew when we took on this project that it was going to be special, our client’s vision took us out of our comfort zone and enabled us to create a fantastic final product. The project provided the opportunity to execute high quality board marked fair faced concrete finishes along with a retaining wall made up of precast concrete segments that we installed.

Our contract extended to implementing the client’s landscape design, from installation of over a further 20 precast retaining walls, to an exposed aggregate terrace finish and a resin driveway.

Challenge

  • “When looking at the preparation that goes into a quotation, you can see that Eclipse Group know what they are talking about. This does not stop when executing the work as the site preparation, the slab and the drainage show the excellent professionalism of Eclipse.”

  • “Most impressive is the commitment to the tiniest detail – on paper and on site.”

The Eclipse Solution

Eclipse is known for their methodical approach. We worked on this project in several phases:

PHASE 1

To comply with the planning approval and pre-commencement conditions we had to install the foundations for the bat house. As part of the works we located the main sewer on site and carried out a survey of the existing wall foundations. A contractor appointed by the client installed and completed the bat house.

PHASE 2

In order to avoid to demolish the existing retaining wall and to undermine the highway, our solution was to install earth anchors to the existing wall and cast a new shell in front of the blockwork wall. The client and the architect were very specific with their requirement which was a board marked wall. We produced 3 samples with variations of the wall finish to give options for the client to decide what they liked best before proceeding with the construction of the wall.

We also installed the ground bearing slab as well as precast retaining walls and low level garage walls together with all utilities and drainage.

PHASE 3

The client and the landscape designer progressed with their design whilst we carried out Phase 2. Both liked what we delivered so much that they asked us to carry out parts of the hard landscaping. This comprised a low level concrete seating with the same board marked concrete we had done before, a retaining structure for additional parking and garden area as well as an concrete staircase to access the house at the first floor.

Outcome

A very happy customer with high expectations which have been met.
